Cycling to Vitosha and through Sofia's parks

Not every ride is about getting somewhere. Sofia has wonderful calm routes through the greenery - for a leisurely ride, for exercise or with the family.
Borisova Gradina
The classic for a calm ride in the centre. Wide paths, shade and the option of loop routes without going onto the street - ideal for beginners and children.
South Park
Long paths that connect several neighbourhoods. A good starting point for a longer ride south towards the foothills.
Towards Vitosha
Routes to the mountain start through Dragalevtsi and Simeonovo. Here the gradient starts to matter - Cycly shows you how steep it is, so you can judge your strength and pick a gentler option if you prefer.
Tips for a leisurely ride
- Choose gentler routes if you're with family or a beginner.
- Take water - there are no shops on the way to the mountain.
- Set off early on hot days; Cycly also shows the weather for the route.
Ready-made routes in Cycly
In the "Rides" and "Mountain" sections you'll find ready-made calm routes through the parks and towards Vitosha, so you can set off without planning them yourself.
More green spaces
Besides Borisova Gradina and South Park, the West Park, the North Park and Vazrazhdane Park are also good for a calm ride. They're quieter and great for first outings with children or a short loop close to home.
Practical logistics
For a longer loop towards Vitosha, set off early, take enough water and a light repair kit (spare tube and pump). Check the weather - Cycly shows the forecast for the route, and summer afternoon storms over the mountain arrive fast.
